If an aging brow is causing you to look older far before your time, you may want to consider a brow lift with Dr. Gary. It tends to produce incredible results for patients who feature:

  • A SAGGING BROW
  • A PERPETUALLY TIRED OR ANGRY APPEARANCE
  • DROOPY UPPER EYELIDS
  • DEEP FOREHEAD LINES
  • BROW FURROWS

In general, most of our brow lift patients are in between 40 and 50 years of age, and possess noticeable signs of aging around the eyes and forehead.

However, younger patients in their 20s and 30s may also be candidates, if genetic factors and other issues are causing them to age prematurely.

Traditionally, the only method of lifting brows up was by surgery(Brow Lift or Forehead Lift).  One method used to surgically lift brows was the coronal brow lift.

An incision is made in the hair line, and the forehead is pulled backwards to lift the brows.

More commonly, the procedure is now performed via keyhole surgery (endoscopic brow lift or endoscopic forehead lift).?

Browlift addresses the descent or downward migration of the eyebrows as one ages.

Patients often find that as they approach their late 30's to early 40's that their brows are beginning to lose that youthful appearance and present complaining of a tired and angry look.

Women usually present earlier than men, wanting back the high arch of their brows they used to have
.

Have you noticed a fullness of your upper lids as you get older?  Are you now having to manually lift up on the brow to apply eye shadow or severely wrinkle the forehead to elevate the brow?

Fullness of the upper eyelid and lower brow is a common complaint from our patients.

They complain it makes them look tired and older. The sagging brow is caused by gravitational descent of the forehead and brow skin over the orbital bony rim (eye socket) that happens to many of us as we age.

People who get chemical brow-lifts tend to be those who want a brighter look to their eyes and a higher brow, but don’t want invasive surgery or the permanent effect of a surgical procedure.

There is a less expensive, quick and easy, less invasive alternative you can try to lessen the appearance of a sagging brow.

It’s called the Non-Surgical Brow Lift

So how does it work?  First, a short anatomy lesson: There is only one muscle that elevates the eyebrow, the thin, broad, forehead muscle called the Frontalis Muscle. There are several depressor muscles that pull the eyebrow down.

The muscle that depresses the lateral brow is the Orbicularis Oculi. It is a sphincter muscle that opens and closes the eye like a camera lens.

When it closes the eye it pulls down on the lateral brow.

The elevator and the depressors muscles are antagonistic (pulling in opposite directions) and hold the brow in position while at rest.

By simply injecting and weakening the depressor muscles with a neuromuscular blocker like Botox or Dysport and leaving the elevator muscle unopposed it will retrain the muscles to reshape the brow over time.

In short, strategically placed neuromuscular blocker injections can give your brows a subtle yet temporary lift—with none of the recovery or downtime associated with surgery and at a fraction of the cost.

The goal is to lift the lateral or outside of the brow giving a nicely arched appearance that most women favor. This gives the eyes a wide open, larger, more youthful appearance

By careful placement of anti-wrinkle injections into these muscles, the eyebrows are released from this downward pull, and the forehead muscles (frontalis muscle) are left to lift the eyebrows up without being antagonized. This leads to a few millimeters in eyebrow height usually.

Secondly, by injecting a dermal filler underneath the eyebrow, support can be given to the eyebrow and this elevates the eyebrow up.

The Dermal fillers like Juvederm helps to soften the bony orbital rim around the eyebrows, leading to a softer and more youthful appearance.

According to Dr. Rothfeld the patient's eyebrow can be treated at one critical point in the forehead with tiny amounts of filler to lift the brow.

Adding filler to the temple and nasal bridge would open the eye even further, as well as give a lift to the upper eyelid and eyebrow.

The skeletonization of the brow is an aging feature and by placing fillers on the bony rim, it softens this area and reduces any showing of the underlying skull.

Finally, dermal fillers can be used in the middle half of the upper lid/brow to help to reduce the apparent sag of the eyelids.

Usually, upper eyelids droop from the outer half first, and this makes the middle half look relatively hollow.

By filling the middle half of the brow/eyelid, this balances the appearance of the upper eyelid and reduces the apparent droop of the eyelid.

Patients presented to our center with concerns that they are looking tired.

Dermal fillers can be used around the eyebrows and upper eyelids to pad this area, and give our patients a more refreshed appearance.
